The role of a carer or support worker is a lot of things but it certainly isn’t just a job.
It’s about being a life coach, confidant, teacher, nurse, cook, dietitian, personal trainer, chauffeur, interpreter, friend, advocate, tour guide plus so much more.
A support worker has the opportunity to change a person’s life for the better by supporting them to achieve their goals and dreams. It’s about empowering people with a disability and supporting them to become as independent as possible.
It’s also about advocacy – promoting, protecting and defending the human rights of People with disability.
A Support Worker plays an integral role in ensuring People with a disability are empowered to grow in a safe and healthy environment.
A Support Worker is not just a job, it’s a vocation and takes a very special person who can wear many ‘hats’ to make a difference.
